Tottenham Hotspur, also known as Spurs, are a club based in North London who were founded in 1882 under the name Hotspurs FC originally. The clubs honours include 2 Division One titles, 8 F.A Cups, 4 League Cups and 2 UEFA Cups.
Spurs were interestingly the first club in English football to win the domestic double of the League Cup and the F.A Cup in the 20th century during the 1960-61 season. During the 90’s they won the F.A Cup and the League Cup again, and they won the League Cup once more in 2008 where they beat Chelsea in extra time; meaning that they have matched Manchester United in being one of the very few clubs to have won a major honour in each of the last 6 decades.
From the start of Tottenham’s creation up until 1898 the club did not have a set design on there kit. There first kit was all navy blue shirts, shorts and socks, and in 1890 they wore red shirts, navy blue shorts and socks. From 1896 – 1898 they even sported a chocolate and golden striped jersey. However, nearing the end of the 19th century they changed their colours to white shirts and navy blue shorts and this has remained the template for all the kits they have had up to present day, thus why they are also called the “Lilywhites”.
