Portsmouth, also known as Pompey, is an English football club who are currently playing in the Premier League. They have been ever present in the top flight since they were promoted after winning the Championship under Harry Rednkapp in 2003.
In all of Pompeys history they have succeeded in winning two Division 1 Titles back to back (1949 & 1950). They have also won 2 F.A Cups; one of which was achieved quite recently in 2008 where they beat Championship side Cardiff City in a close encounter that finished 1-0 with Kanu getting the winning goal.
Ever since 1947, Pompey’s club colours have been blue shirts, white shorts and red socks – even the colours gold and yellow have been incorporated into the design in recent seasons. When Portsmouth first started out however, there kit was a salmon pink shirt, white shorts and maroon socks. They also had a period between 1909 to 1911 where they wore white shirts, royal blue shorts and royal blue socks.
