Manchester City Football Club

Manchester City were originally founded in1880 under the name St. Marks, it was then changed to Ardwick A. F. C. 7 years later. It was not until 1894 that they were officially named Manchester City F. C. The club has spent most of its history inside the top flight but the club have not won any major trophies ever since the League Cup they won in 1976.

City had established themselves as a decent side in Premier League when they came back up from the Division 1 and have now become one of the “top teams. This is because in 2008, Manchester City were taken over by Abu Dhabi United Group Investment, where they made their intentions clear from the very start by injecting huge amounts of money into the clubs transfer kitty, landing high profile players such as Robinho, Adebayor, Tevez and many others.

The home colours of Manchester City are sky blue and white mainly – it has been for most of their history. However, at the beginning of its formation, when they were known as “St. Marks” they wore black shirts, white shorts and black socks. City have recently changed their kit sponsor from Thomas Cook to Etihad Airways due to the takeover from the Abu Dhabi United Group.
