Liverpool Football Club – The Reds

Liverpool Football Club, also known as “The Reds” were founded in 1892 and are regarded as the most successful club in English football; this is because they have won more trophies than any other club. Honours including 18 League Titles (a record they share with Manchester United), 7 F.A Cups, 7 League Cups & 5 European Cups.

Throughout the history of Liverpool Football Club it has had 17 managers in total. Tom Watson was its longest serving manager(in terms of actual time), who looked after the club for 19 years starting from 1896 all the way to 1915. The longest serving manager (in terms of games managed) is Bill Shankly, who oversaw Liverpool through 783 games. Bob Paisley is the clubs most successful manager, who was able to achieve a haul of 19 trophies during his tenure – including 6 League Titles and 3 European Cups.

When the club first started out, the team actually wore the colours of blue and white, which was the colours of fierce local rivals Everton. By 1894 though they decided to change the kit colours to red and white instead. Since 1964 though, they changed the kit to the famous all-red strip we know today – hence the nickname given to them “The Reds”. They adopted the city’s”liver bird” as the clubs crest in 1901.
