Chelsea Football Club – Blues or Pensioners
Chelsea Football Club are a professional team based in West London, and were founded in 1905. They are one of the most well established teams in English football having spent most of their history in the top flight. Honours for them include 3 Premier League Titles, 5 FA Cups, 4 League Cups and 2 UEFA Cup Winners Cup’s.
The clubs first major success came in 1955, where they won a League Title and Chelsea continued to win many other cups during the next couple of decades. However, after the 1970’s they didn’t claim another major honour until the late 90’s where they won 3 trophies in the form of a League Cup, Cup Winner’s Cup and a UEFA Super Cup.
Recent years have been Chelsea’s most successful period in their history, winning back to back Premierships in the 2004/05 and 2005/06 season’s. This success is arguably down to the massive investment that the club went under in 2003, when Ken Bates sold the club to a Russian billionaire called Roman Abramovich. Roman splurged huge amounts of his cash in to Chelsea’s team which allowed them to sign the worlds best players.
Chelsea’s club kit has normally always been royal blue shirts, royal blue shorts and white socks. At the start of the clubs formation, however they used a lighter shade of blue initially between 1905 and 1915.
